KATIE HATFIELD
REGISTRAR & OPERATIONS TEAM
Birthplace: Seattle, WA
When/how did you begin working for EBT? I began performing in EBT's production of The Nutcracker as a Party Mom in 2012. The following three years, I performed the role of Clara's mom, Frau Stahlbaum, in The Nutcracker. Beginning Spring 2015, my role as Costume Manager began with coordinating costuming for Twelve Dancing Princesses/Giselle. Subsequently, I costume managed The Nutcracker from 2015-2022 and the Spring shows: Cipollino 2016; My Mama Had a Dancing Heart 2017; Peter & the Wolf/Les Sylphides 2018; Coppelia 2019; Spring Variations Showcase 2021; Tales of Beatrix Potter/Paquita & Don Quixote excerpts 2022; with Sleeping Beauty 2023 as my costuming finale. In addition to our mainstage productions, I costume coordinated for Magic Bus and other outreach performances, YAGP competitions, Northwest Folklife Festival, and all the PreBallet mini-performances. In the Fall of 2023, I taught Creative Movement and PreBallet classes with our community partner, The Eton School. Spring of 2024 brought me a guest teaching opportunity with another community partner, Columbia Choirs of Metropolitan Seattle, for their choir retreat movement classes. It was a great pleasure to teach a dance and art camp for young children with the City of Redmond the Summer of 2024.
What are your main responsibilities/areas you are involved with? Having mainly been involved with costuming for Emerald Ballet Theatre, I am excited to branch out with more teaching opportunities as well as keep a hand in the customer service/registration side of operations.
What do you enjoy about your job and/or EBT? Growing up and spending a lot of my life in the dance and theatre world, I am always grateful for an opportunity to flex my creative muscles. Working in the nonprofit sector with some phenomenal individuals who work really hard to make dance accessible to all and bring communities together by collaborating with other organizations through dance is inspiring and motivating.
What are you looking forward to this year? The people! Working with our dancers, their families, and EBT's excellent staff in a positive, uplifting, encouraging, and welcoming environment.
Favorite hobbies/activities: Spending time with my husband and four kids, hiking, beach exploring, jazz music, speaking Danish, and dancing!
